Climate

The climate is cold and unstable throughout the entire year. Despite this, the city is protected from the intense cold due to its location next to the Beagle Channel and the Andes mountain range. During the summer, the average temperature is 50°F (10°C), while in winter, the average is 33°F (1°C).

When to travel?

You can travel to Ushuaia all year round, although the chosen season will determine the excursions and activities to be done. If you prefer to go trekking, the most suitable time is summer and late spring, as the long duration of the days during summer (18 hours of daylight) greatly facilitates outdoor activities. Likewise, if your destination is Antarctica, all cruises depart from Ushuaia between December and March. On the other hand, if you want to practice winter sports, the best time will be from June to September.

For how long?

We recommend from two to three nights in Ushuaia to enjoy the excursions in the area. If you are going to take a cruise to Antarctica, you will have to add an additional night at the end of your boat trip.
