Itinerary
Day 1: Start of the Air-Cruise
Arrive in Punta Arenas, Chile, before 2 PM where you are welcomed by ANTARCTICA XXI staff and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, you attend a mandatory briefing that provides important information about your voyage and reviews the essential guidelines for Antarctic visitors. Later, gather for a welcome dinner and meet your fellow adventurers while enjoying a typical regional menu.
Day 2: Scheduled flight to Antarctica
We will be taken to the airport in Punta Arenas to board the flight to Frei Base in King George Island. The flight lasts around two hours. After landing we will visit the Chilean Frei Base and the Russian Bellinghausen Base. At Fildes Bay we will gather to board the expedition vessel by means of the Zodiac boats and start our Antarctic adventure.
Day 3 to 6: Exploring Antarctica
We will start navigating between the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. Our aim will be to cross the Lemaire Channel and 65° south latitude. During the expedition we will watch marine birds, penguins, seals and whales. We will navigate among fjords and icebergs; we will marvel at the view of the most amazing places such as Isla de Livingston, Isla Cuverville, Isla Decepción, Isla Petermann, Puerto Lockroy, Bahia Paraiso. During this extraordinary experience we will disembark daily in the Zodiac boats and also have informative talks offered by the experts in Antarctica.
Day 7: Scheduled return flight from Antarctica
Return to King George Island and bid farewell to Antarctica before boarding the flight back to Punta Arenas. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for the night. (Note: Meals in Punta Arenas are at your leisure and not included in the program).
Day 8:End of the Air-Cruise
After breakfast, transfer to the Punta Arenas airport for your onward flight.
